Artists Describing Their Art:

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Austen Pinkerton - Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. A lot of my work is autobiographicalaEUR|either directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously. It is frequently very personal, and expresses events or circumstances or experiences in my life. I usually work in either Acrylic on Canvas, Crayon or Pastel, or both together, with Gouache, on card, Drawing in pencil, or Ink, or both, or with creating SculptureaEUR|for which I use fired artists clay. Sculpture follows a completely different set of rules and values from two-dimensional art, obviously, I think of it as Drawing in three dimensions and I take this into account when creating mine. In all my...

Shoshannah Brombacher - Art makes the world within the artist visible. Classical music, poetry, Jewish and Chassidic stories, traveling, the love for people and memories of eras gone but not forgotten, cities where I lived and worked, like Amsterdam, Berlin, Jerusalem, New York, or visitedm, lie Prague and Sicily, are the main ingredients of my art. My art is like the water of the canals of my native Amsterdam, Rembrandts city, the deeper you look into it, the more you see. A reflection of a reflection of a reflection...look, what you see is not what you see. My art contains texts and letters, lets writing come alive, and reflects my deep connection with the Dutch 17th century Masters, German expressionism, Russian art and medieval miniatures. My art is also a tribute to music and the world of the great Chassidic masters of Eastern Europe. The Kotzker Rebbe listened to a Chassidic storyteller in the street and stated He told what he wanted and I heard what I needed. That is Art. ...

Tamara Sorkin - I have always worked from organic subjects- plants, animals, or the human body, but usually I arrive at an abstract, "zoomorphic" description, that enables me a wider perspective. ...

Jinxian Zhao - my painting is belong to Chinese traditional painting . and 100 handmade . I am Chinese Flower and bird Painting Artists , As to styles, there are two different schools in Chinese traditional painting meticulous painting and free sketch painting. I am special in Meticulous painting , meticulous painting characterized by fine brushwork and close attention to detail....

Leon K. L. Chew - I endeavor to present a unique and innovative style of Chinese painting, in combining ideas of calligraphy and painting, in integrating Science and Art, and in blending the East and the West. Using a traditional painting medium, but with self-invented modern technique of pigmentizing-and-alumizing, a binary balance between traditional art practice and contemporary art process is achieved. Another trademark of my paintings is the controlled and yet harmonious splashings of varied Chinese ink and colors, and a rich mix of dry-wet, dispersed-concentrated, bright-dark and light-heavy effects. Heavy color is created from a mixture of color pigments from mineral and vegetable sources. The surface of my paintings is usually converted into a virtual platform, sometimes unpredictable, on which diverse entities converge, and then diverge to make a picture. I continue to pursue a state between figurative naturalism and abstract intellectualism, between likeness and unlikeness seeking the Yin Yang harmony of form and spirit, past and present. Leon K. L. Chew...

Michael Kehrlein - painter, sculptor, textile artist ,My creations fit perfectly(sic) in a wabi sabi urban zen environment. Because I stubbornly believe all the care my hands give to each and every process of my textile creations or stone sculpture creates something more than just a "look." It may be subtle, but you know when you wear or touch. You know when that piece ages with you. You feel the thought of that person, who made it for you, the invisible. I work with "slow" materials, not flashy, not necessary pretty, not cheap, not easy, but those that will give a soul to the piece. I would like to offer you the best and unique. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ...

Linda Paul - Artists Statement" When asked 'What is your favorite painting', I always say, 'the next one I am going to paint!" Style: I don't paint in any one style, I let inspiration speak to me and I go with the flow. My work runs the gamut from chunky realism to abstract and impressionist painting. I use many different mediums to create my artworks. One of my favorites is egg tempera which I make by crushing stones and minerals and adding egg yolk. Blues come from crushed lapis lazuli, greens from malachite and natural green earth found around Verona Italy. I even use minerals found during hikes in the Rocky Mountains. I am captivated not only by the purity and naturalness of this medium, but by the science of it. Each pigment has its own set of properties and capabilities that must be explored. How better to express visions of the earth than with earth itself. This medium is luminous and lasts for centuries. also make my own acrylic paint in the same manner. By adding pure pigment to a acrylic polymer. I can add thing like crushed mica and pearlescents to make the painting come alive. Lately I have also ...

Alison Raimes - Blurred Edges is a multi media project exploring the boundaries of the contemporary perception of reality. Using intriguing and strange images created by photographing hand made models made from everyday materials, the photographs are morphed, manipulated and juxtaposed with the atmospheric, dense drones of sound artist, Red Fog

Robert Tittle - I like to experiment with different surfaces, such as painting on burlap, I like the challenge of painting clean edges on the rough, bumpy and fuzzy surface. My creations have led some viewers to described them as having characteristics of romanticism. My desire is to stimulate emotions and imaginations, to invoke curiosity in the viewer and create a feeling of being there in the location the painting depicts. I hope my paintings reveal my spiritual character, my faith in God, and the beauty of nature. I have been taught, when an artist puts creativity and spirituality into a painting, they will then have something to leave to the world. ...

Robert Tittle - Randy Sprout - I grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, played football, coached the swimming team, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in printmaking studying under Mauricio Lasansky. I then went into the Army and ended up pulling 13 months in Korea on the DMZ. Coming out of Korea I entered UCLA and earned a MA and MFA in printmaking while studying under Jan Stussy and Stanton Mac-Donald Wright. The next year after the funds dried up on my Fulbright Award to Portugal, because of the Angola War, I was lucky to get hired by USC where I taught printmaking as a junior faculty member. I also replaced professors at UCLA when they went on sabaticals, and taught one year at Pierce College. In 1977 I tried Real Estate, you know just for the summer, but by fall I had purchased Century 21 Hollywood Inc. and had a new vocation going. Now 31 years into real estate, I'm coming full circle and starting to paint little quick studies 9X12. I'm using just 1/2 inch brushes and 5 colors. I intentionally limit my time to 2 hours after which I stop and throw ...

Dune Tencer - I have been told that I need to find a style, a theme, or a signature look to my art. Well I have. I love painting the landscapes of America's Southwest and my home state of Texas. I love painting the texture, color and size. Now that being said I find painting abstract and inks very freeing, relaxing and the inks are just down right fun. On occasion the canvas has a mind of its own and a painting just wants out. A good example of this can be found in the Geisha. My daughter challenged me to paint a really big painting. I had a roll of canvas, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Overwhelmed by the size I threw on some black paint and some red paint, spread it around. I then hung it from the ceiling of the studio and stepped back. There she was all I had to do was the finishing embellishment and 45 minutes later there stood the "GEISHA". This is not the sort of thing that happens often but what fun when it does. I hope you enjoy seeing my art as much as I do making it. Thank you. ...

Katie Pfeiffer - My goal or artistic process is to examine personal relationships and feelings in a humorous way using a multitude of imagery from everywhere. I like to mix up my drawing and paintings with found imagery to create something new. I look to imagery made for children ( especially school primers from the 50s and 60s) as well as stickers to express my naive and child like look at "Adult" subjects. Exploring mysteries of my own desires as well as comment on the stereotypes which exist in female and male relationships. I want my art to envelope the viewer with color, humor and feeling. In the past few years I have started to explore the relationship of light and dark and the association with positive and negative emotions as well as make several collections of "ugly" paintings with text which explore my personal relationship with men, family and people in my life. All my art is original and I do not list prints or copies of my work. Most of my paintings are done in inks or acrylics. ...

Minh Hang - Through life struggle I was able to understand the profound meaning of my surrounding. Each experienced take me to a different level of awareness and a vision with wiser perspective. Art was a mean for me to coped with all the hardship and struggle in my life, each time i pickup a paint brush i went in to a trend that take me deep down to the cord of my spirituality until i feel my hand was guided by a super being, at this stage i found my sense of security. The process of creating is like a journey to discover a new self and a new world. I like to provoked the deep sense of my emotion where i can create mood that give me the excitement and energy in the process. to me, I found that black and white visually give me a pure sense of reality and raw emotion like a documentary told the story the way it is. with just a simple medium such as black charcoal, ink and acrylic to convey an idea on to a canvas through light and shadow, form and composition to form a visually excitement finish piece of art work. ...

Yulia Korneva - When after the midnight the lights and shadows are mixed up in sleepless eyes it is time for me to create the instant pictures of the world between the dream, nightmare and reality. My name is Yulia A. Korneva and everything I create is my way to express what I saw and feel. Even the portraits for me are a way to see something more then a photo made with pencil or oil colours. I find very interesting the posthumous or revival portraits when sometimes I have to assemble the expression, colours and background from different photographs. I was born to Moscow (URSS) in 1981, my grandfather was a painter. I started drawing to surprise my classmates and soon I could not imagine my life without creating something. My first work was the illustration for book of poems "August" (Indipendent publisher; Moscow; Russia) written by Nadezda Korneva in 2000. My first personal exhibition took place in 2004 in Turin, Italy. Now I artist, mother and I also make another job for living, but I hope to have one day more time to dedicate to creation....
