Any number of interesting things going on in the world of art are mentioned on 'absoluteart.com'. For instance a show that is of interest to you - that reflects a certain cultural viewpoint or even political viewpoint. It is up to you to condence your understanding or feelings about something into a few short and sweet words!!
And try to have fun doing it!
Best wishes to you.

Thank you for sharing your viewpoints. Relax in your chairs and put your mind in a neutral state.
Is ego a bad thing? Is joy just beauty? Think of "ego" and "joy" in their neutral state, no tags of good or bad.
Ego is something we deal with everyday, every single moment in our lives. It is a part of existance and reason for survival. And "joy" is much more than beauty. Joy is the state of "extreme emotions". One can burst into tears when in joy_ Emotions, strongly attached to art, are the very essense of life.
Once a friend expressed life with an analogy of the ocean.
He said: "Think of the ocean_ calm and big. For a water drop it is the source and the end. When the waves hit the rocks, the water drop forms. It lives a time slot until it hits back into the water."
He believed we would be much happier if we were able to retain that calm state of ocean when we were in the air. We would not have any fear or any pain. We would not suffer at all.
He was teaching methods for getting into that calm state and staying there as long as possible.
But why? Why would the water drop would leave the ocean in the first place if all it wanted was that calm state? If there is no fear, would there be love? If there is no pain, would there be joy? If there is no black how would I appreciate or even understand white?
That time slot of being a water drop is full of "extreme emotions" excitement, passion, love, and fear, pain, unknown and motion _ that time slot is the expression of being. There is a lot to enjoy until going back to the calm ocean, to the source, to the void.
All the best,

Creativity is the only path upon which you will find yourself, lose yourself and become yourself. There is room for Art, which is the product of creativity, to be forged from interests beyond ego. Sharing our experience is to make public what is private, as if to say "this is what I see...this is what I feel... this is what I desire" and questioning "do you feel the same way"? I do not completely concure with your theory with regard to the motives for which artists' create. Your theory is remains forever chained to the final product omitting the process. As an atrist myself I derived much more pleasure, pain, passion, insight and enlightenment from the process of creativity than I could ever hope to get from anyone who might ever cast thier eye on a finished work.

Would Vincent Van Gogh agree with the idea of ego being the center of his body of work? He did do self portraits - but might that have been for lack of another suitable, accessible subject? I don’t know, but, it seems like if ego is the center of our creative urge, then jealously must be the only reason we every get married… That makes as much sense. I once tried to pursue a woman unsuccessfully – until she saw several other women seemingly enjoying my company. While that was truly a boost to my ego, and her finally relenting to my earlier advances thereafter was also a boost to my ego – it never translated to my art. However, later, I feel deeply in love with this woman and I began creating all the time. My work flourished, but not out of ego I would argue, for there was a whole lot of loving going on – not the brandishing of weapons. Ego and jealously are items I keep locked up in a bunker for that sort of arsenal, while I seek other resources to feed my work - such as curiosity, compassion, inspiration from nature, or my fellow human beings. Perhaps its all a matter of interpretation and our own meanings we attach to our language. In my language though, I check my ego in at the door before I go out seeking essence in my life.

Well I guess there is "joy" in each of our art works, but I guess art is also all the other feelings one artist holds in oneself... Art is the expression of TODAY from the point of view and technique of the artist, its full of all the feelings she/he can't hold inside and needs to express them through painting...
The failures hurt so bad but its such a pleasure afterwards ( Joy ?)...
I paint because I can't control all the feelings, I guess lately I have been painting what drove me mad, and the world bombarded by words and images have helped me express it.... I hope sooner I will paint Joy
...
Big Kiss to Alev :)

In a world where we are all bombarded by words, I often find it difficult to separate profound statements that really move me. Alev's have done just that - she has defined the reason I paint.
